To help ensure the safety of your child, a SafeGuard Child Seat should not be re-used after a crash.
IMMI offers a replacement program for qualified seats. If it is determined that your seat qualifies, we will ship you a new seat (the design may vary pending availability). Please contact our Customer Service at 1-800-586-7839 within 30 days of the crash to see if you qualify. We’ll need to know the following:
- Your name, address, and phone number
- Once the padding has been removed, did a visual inspection of the child safety seat reveal any cracks or deformation that might have been caused by the crash?
- Was the vehicle in which the child safety seat installed incapable of being driven from the scene of the crash?
- Was the vehicle door nearest the child safety seat damaged?
- Were there injuries to any of the vehicle occupants?
- Did the air bags (if any) deploy?
- Was the child seat occupied at the time of the crash?
- Did the crash happen in the last 90 days?
- Is the crashed restraint available for return?

|
Based on the above questions, if IMMI determines that your restraint is a possible candidate for return and exchange, you’ll need to provide the following:
- Vehicle Make / Model / Year
- Child’s Weight / Height / Age
- Restraint Model / Serial / Manufacture Date
- Seating position in the vehicle where the restraint was installed when the crash occurred:
| Auto Seating Positions |
| D |
2 |
3 |
| 4 |
5 |
6 |
| 7 |
8 |
9 |
- Was the restraint installed using the LATCH strap, vehicle lap and shoulder belt, or vehicle lap belt only?
- Was the restraint tethered?
- A police report is required along with your description of the crash.

The state laws in California and Illinois require the insurance company to replace the insured’s child seat if it has been involved in a crash. This program is completely voluntary, and IMMI is under no legal obligation to accommodate any or all requests. Therefore, IMMI reserves the right to change or cancel the program at any time, without notice, written or otherwise.
All submitted documentation becomes the property of IMMI and will not be returned. Upon review of the crash circumstances and documentation, we will determine if an exchange is applicable and do reserve the right to deny any exchange.
If approved, we will contact the consumer and issue a Return Materials Authorization number. This number must be clearly visible on the outside of the box or it will be rejected. Freight is the sole responsibility of the consumer, and COD’s will be rejected. Misdirected, lost, or stolen returns are not the responsibility of IMMI. If accepted by us, we will send, at our expense, a replacement child seat in the color and features of our choice and ship it to the consumer via our preferred freight carrier. We will not authorize or pay for expedited freight methods. All child seats and documentation submitted become the property of IMMI. |
