The SafeGuard GO is LATCH equipped for easy installation and reduced misuse. In fact, it is the first seat designed for use in LATCH-equipped Vehicles. LATCH can be found on all vehicles of model year 2003 or newer. However, some automobile manufacturers equipped their vehicles with LATCH prior to 2003 model year.
The LATCH system is an acronym for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children. It is a standardized child safety seat attachment system, independent of the vehicle belt system that simplifies child safety seat installation. This independent system has two lower anchorages and one upper tether anchorage. The LATCH system is designed to better stabilize the child safety seat and reduce the potential for head injury. Each vehicle is typically equipped with a LATCH system at two rear seating positions.
