SafeGuard Introduces New STAR Options
Westfield, Indiana…October 26, 2004–The SafeGuard brand of child safety restraint products from IMMI has expanded its line of add-on restraints products to include the STAR Plus and a STAR Connector Strap. SafeGuard STAR is a Student Transportation Add-On Restraint that utilizes cam wrap technology with a five-point restraint and a flexible base that is a height and weight appropriate restraint that can be used with any current school bus seat.
The standard SafeGuard STAR fits a child from 25 to 65 pounds and the new SafeGuard STAR Plus fits a child from 25 to 90 pounds. STAR Plus has a larger flexible base with an additional two inches in length and width from the standard STAR. The STAR Plus also has a larger comfort pad and shoulder area. STAR Plus fits both the current high and low back school bus seats and meets Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and is compatible with seat belt ready and non-seat belt ready seats.
The STAR Connector Strap connects three standard STAR restraints, with a maximum combined weight of 180 pounds, on a 39 school bus seat. The STAR Connector Strap is easy to install and eliminates the loss of seating capacity on a bus equipped with 39 seats. The new Connector Strap meets all FMVSS requirements.
“STAR Plus and the STAR Connector Strap are products developed because of the relationship SafeGuard has with its customers,” said Steve Wallen, General Manager of the SafeGuard Division. “Listening to customers and their needs and then following up with new products and accessories is why SafeGuard is the leader in safety restraints in the school bus industry.”
The SafeGuard STAR Plus and STAR Connector Strap are competitively priced and available through SafeGuard STAR Distributors. To find a SafeGuard STAR distributor visit www.safeguardseat.com.
Both SafeGuard products will be introduced to the school bus industry at the National Association for Pupil Transportation Show (NAPT) November 2, 2004 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
