SafeGuard Introduces a Mobility Solution To the School Bus Industry
SafeGuard Mobility Solution has unique features new to the industry

Westfield, Indiana…November 11, 2003 -The SafeGuard brand of child safety products from IMMI has expanded its occupant restraint product line in the school bus industry to include a wheel chair securement system. IMMI brings its experience and technology as the industry leader in wheelchair securements in the transit bus industry to the school bus industry with the SafeGuard Mobility System. This new mobility product will be introduced at the National Association for Pupil Transportation Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, November 11, 2003 and will be available through Blue Bird Bus Distributors.

"The SafeGuard Mobility System is unique because it is the only wheelchair securement system in the school bus industry with an adjustable D-loop mechanism similar to the adjustable shoulder belt in an automobile, which makes it easy to adjust the shoulder belt and more comfortable." said Aaron Acton, SafeGuard Mobility Solutions product manager. "School bus drivers and monitors will also notice that the compact tie-downs allow additional turning room for wheelchairs and that the system's extra large hooks are dipped in vinyl to prevent scratching the wheelchair. "

While other wheelchair securement systems conduct only sled tests using a 164 pound test dummy, The SafeGuard Mobility System is the only system to undergo live vehicle crash testing and rollover testing in addition to sled testing using a 225 pound test dummy. IMMI's Center for Advanced Product Evaluation (CAPE) has rigorously tested this new system in four rollover tests, using the only rollover test fixture for commercial vehicles in the world, and is the only test facility to conduct a bus to bus crash to measure product performance. The SafeGuard system meets and exceeds SAE J2249, ISO 10542, ADA, FMVSS, and CSA standards.

"The SafeGuard system is designed for use with any standard wheel chair and is easy to use, convenient, and more comfortable for the passenger." said Aaron Acton. "The system also has an easy push button release and all the excess web retracts at the push of a button for easy storage."

The SafeGuard Mobility System is competitively priced compared to other wheelchair securements in the school bus industry. Visit www.safeguardseat.com to see video on how easy and convenient it is to use the SafeGuard Mobility System on the school bus.
