This Year’s Program Has Ended
Check back next summer or read below to learn how the STAR Summer exchange works!
Give your youngest riders the protection they deserve. From May 1–September 30, the annual SafeGuard STAR Summer Exchange program makes it easy for school districts to replace expired Child Safety Restraint Systems (CSRS) of any brand and start the new school year confident, compliant, and inspection‑ready.
Just like earning a summer camp badge, this is an achievement that strengthens your district’s commitment to student safety.
All add-on child passenger safety
restraints have a designated service
life in accordance with industry
standards.
After this period of time, an add-on
child safety restraint is no longer
considered usable for the safe
transportation of children and
use should be discontinued.
The SafeGuard STAR has a service life
of six (6) years. The date of manufacture can
be found on a label sewn to the cam wrap web
near where it connects to the seat base.
The SafeGuard SuperSTAR has a service life of seven (7) years, and the restraint model number and manufacture date are located on a label sewn to the webbing above the seating platform.
Identify expired Child Safety Restraint Systems (CSRS) in your fleet.
Cut the label with the webbing it’s sewn to from the expired product as specified in this short video and ship it directly to us. The label MUST be attached to the webbing, or it will not be accepted.
Submit your request through the STAR Summer Exchange Program by completing the form below.
If you would like to mail-in your form, a downloadable form can be found here: STAR Summer Exchange Mail-In Form
You will receive an email with instructions on where to mail your cut labels back to SafeGuard.
